The Amitges Refuge is a great starting point for many high-mountain hikes. We'll highlight some peak ascents and trips to other refuges.
The Amitges area is a traditional climbing school. There are numerous boulders near the refuge, as well as the well-known Amitges Needles, and less frequented climbing spots.
During winter, the refuge is open for many days in February and March, coinciding with French school holidays. It also opens on most long weekends, for Easter, and upon reservation.
